Nothing, of course lasts like real stone, but in some home related applications, it’s simply not practical because of the weight factor, but real stone siding can in many cases, add structural benefits to a property in the way that faux stone does not. Everyone knows about real stone, so what about Faux Stone? Faux Stone is made from Portland cement and added iron oxide pigments are responsible for the coloration. The Faux products really do look like real stone. Faux stone typically costs less, which accounts for its increasing popularity in residential projects. As a general rule, there are three approaches to consider when you’re looking into applying stone siding to your exterior:
Decisions regarding the above three approaches should be based on the look you’re trying to get for the whole project. It will also depend on the type of stone siding you get. Our team at Temmel Siding will be happy to discuss the variables involved in stone work, to make sure you get the look you want in the most practical and cost-effective way.
At Temmel Siding, we only use quality exterior latex paint, formulated to last between 12-15 years before you will need to paint again. The quality of our materials and workmanship is second to none. The big issue related to exterior painting is…which color to use? Color selection can be terrifying. The small color chips can only provide a rough guide.
Often colors look entirely different once applied to a home. One suggestion: Why not take a drive through neighborhoods and bring your color chip booklet? Often homeowners are even willing to give out their color code and paint manufacturer. As long as you don’t live right next to them, they are usually flattered that you like the color of their house.
Also, keep in mind that the siding color you like so well, may not look as striking with another trim color. Once you have narrowed down your color selection, John Temmel can have some small paint quantities mixed for you. These can be applied to the siding on your home to allow you to see how your color selections actually look.
There hasn’t been a better time to replace those old single-pane windows in your home. Temmel Siding uses window replacements from a manufacturer offering a very high quality product at a lower cost than what is available from the big name manufacturers. We are living in the age of tax credits for those types of home improvements that save energy. The Energy Star website is a great place to research your tax credit options.

“We contracted John to replace the siding on our home and to paint the house. Excellent work and very professional. Pricing was competitive and the few items that we added to the project were fairly priced if they weren’t done for free. I would recommend John Temmel Siding Guy”
