Click here to watch our replacement window video. It contains great consumer information that will help you avoid costly mistakes. Of particular interest is the segment on a substandard practice among contractors of capping wood with aluminum.
Related to replacement windows, the Internet serves up a LOT of confusing information, misinformation and unfamiliar terms. For example, there are websites warning against vinyl window products because they have earned and deserve an unfavorable reputation. The thin, hollow extruded vinyl products on the market, warp and crack when exposed the elements and hot weather. The term "vinyl" is technically just a nickname for Polyvinyl Chloride. John installs windows made of solid PVC, a totally different product from the common thin (extruded), hollow vinyl window design. John uses solid vinyl windows made from cellular PVC as opposed to the classic problematic, hollow extruded type. Some website articles appear to broadbrush Polyvinyl Chloride products. There IS a difference, as John explains in the video. The bottom line is... Why spend more than you have to? Solid PVC windows provide a tremendous value to the homeowner.
When it comes to windows replacement, John will use a sash kit whenever possible. They do the job for less money. Why replace your entire window if you don't have to? In the case of wood rot, you will need a complete replacement window unit, but most often a sash replacement is appropriate and saves you money.

Notice of Class Action Lawsuit against CertainTeed:
From classaction.org:
"California property owners who have experienced CertainTeed siding problems may be able to participate in a class action lawsuit against CertainTeed. The building materials company has been accused of selling defective siding since at least 2002, and California property owners who have experienced fiber cement shrinkage, warping or other problems may be able to participate in a CertainTeed siding class action lawsuit. A California class action lawsuit against CertainTeed would allow a large group of homeowners the opportunity to collectively bring a claim against the manufacturer to recover compensation for their CertainTeed siding problems."
